Those dirty stinking rats over at JoBlo got their dirty stinking rat hands on the brand new poster for "Stone" starring Robert DeNiro, Edward Norton and Milla Jovovich. Know what makes this movie awesome? Robert DeNiro, Edward Norton and Milla Jovovich. You put two of todays' best actors in the same movie and top it off with super hot babe Milla Jovovich and I don't care if the movie is 90 minutes of them mowing the lawn, I'll still watch it.According to Mike Sampson, who I'm surprised was able to write a coherent sentence that didn't involve his dreams of licking the sweat off of hunky black men, has this to say about the plot:The film stars Norton as Gerald “Stone” Creeson, a convict desperate to convince his parole officer (De Niro) he's reformed. Desperate enough to have his beautiful girlfriend (Mill Jovovich) seduce the parole officer? Yeah, just about that desperate. (as desperate as my desperate attempts to lick the sweat off of hunky black men.)Huh. Guess he did get one in there. I love you Mike Sampson. Click the poster below to see a hi-res version of everyone's face. That's right, more awesome poster art of people's faces. YAWN Oil up and Be a doll and make sure to follow my man Mike as well. The Toronto International Film Festival has rounded out its film roster, which has swelled to nearly 250 films. The fest filled out its Discovery, Masters, Contemporary World Cinema and Visions and Vanguard programs, but the additions that jumped out to me were the naming of the Mavericks who'll take part in discussions about their work. Top of that list is Bruce Springsteen, who'll be interviewed by Edward Norton when The Boss comes to Toronto for the world premiere gala screening of The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town . Springsteen will discuss the film and the making of his seminal 1978 disc, as well as the relationship between his music and filmmaking. His songs are fused to memorable moments in films that include Jerry Maguire and Philadelphia . Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash will discuss his directorial debut on Into the Wind , an hour-long documentary about Terry Fox, a Canadian icon who, after losing his leg to cancer, tried to run across Canada to raise funds and awareness to battle the disease. Nash, one of Canada's most famous non-hockey sports exports, made the film for ESPN's 30 for 30 Series. We've heard from just about everyone so far - Joss Whedon, Robert Downey Jr. - on the recent confirmed casting of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / The Hulk in Marvel's The Avengers movie. One person we haven't heard much from yet is Ruffalo himself, but Entertainment Weekly got the chance to ask him a few questions and they made damn sure to ask about the Hulk. Given that his deal was literally just signed that night, Ruffalo hasn't had much time to dwell on the role, but he's got Edward Norton's blessing and is quite excited to take on the big green guy in Avengers. "I was very, very nervous. I didn't know what to expect." I've heard from others saying that they thought Ruffalo looked nervous, and he definitely was. "It was very exciting — and I realized I had some pretty big shoes to fill. Those were my ...

Looking back at Marvel Studios presentation at Comic-Con last weekend which culminated in revealing the entire cast of The Avengers in front of our very eyes, I can't even explain how amazing it felt to attend that in-person. But now that we're past the announcement stage for this ensemble of superheroes, it's time to get down to business and find out what exactly we have to look forward to with this epic undertaking. Director Joss Whedon felt the need to comment on the reasons behind his choices in Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo as a fresh replacement for Edward Norton as The Hulk. See what he had to say below! In speaking with MTV before Entertainment Weekly's regular Comic-Con shindig, Whedon elaborated on the casting of Renner as the bow-and-arrow wielding hero Hawkeye. EXCLUSIVE: Back on July 14th, I scooped that Mark Ruffalo Is In Late-Stage Talks To Be Marvel's New Hulk in 'The Avengers' . Now I've just learned the ink is drying on the deal reached by Brillstein Entertainment Partners with Marvel. (There's no official confirmation yet from Marvel whose reps aren't available for their usual "No comment".) So it looks like Marvel movie mastermind Kevin Feige may pull this off and bring Ruffalo along with other of The Avengers superheroes and director Joss Whedon to tomorrow night's panel at Comic-Con. Of course, imagine the Hollywood actor whom you'd least expect to play The Incredible Hulk in The Avengers, and maybe, just maybe, you'd come up with the Ruffalo's name. He's always been an actor's actor and is getting critical raves in Focus Features' The Kids Are All Right which opened this month. Ruffalo, of course, replaced Edward Norton who replaced Eric Bana as Hulk. Marvel made a pittance of an offer to Edward Norton to continue in the role. But it caught the actor by surprise that the studio decided to replace him altogether with no advance warning. Like Norton, Ruffalo would bring real chops to the role. But, unlike Norton, he won't be an on-set asshole.  Remember everything that went on in 2008 when Marvel and Norton were privately and publicly feuding over the remake of The Incredible Hulk , details of which I scooped back then?  Eventually they settled their issues after clashing ... After Edward Norton was dumped as Hulk for the upcoming Avengers movie (in an ignominious fashion, no less), speculation swirled that Mark Ruffalo might be taking his place. We've now learned that negotiations for the role are expected to wrap up today, and that Ruffalo may fly out from the east coast tonight in time for the Marvel Studios panel tomorrow, in order to help make the casting announcement. According to The Wrap, one of the "sticking points" is that Marvel wants Ruffalo to commit to four to six Marvel films, a tall order for any actor. Marvel also hasn't been known to compensate their actors particularly well. Whatever the case, we should find out within 24 hours whether Ruffalo will have to start rigorously bulking up in for the sake of his art.

STONE trailer sees Edward Norton as prisoner who uses his wife as bait for parole
www.thesun.co.uk | July 23, 2010

Robert De Niro and Edward Norton team up for the riveting 'Stone,' and ET has a first look at the thought-provoking crime drama!

De Niro plays Jack Mabry, a seasoned parole officer who becomes dangerously intertwined with scheming inmate Gerald "Stone" Creeson (Norton). As Jack counts the days toward a quiet retirement, he is faced with the unexpected when he is asked to review the case of Stone, a man imprisoned for covering up the murder of his grandparents with a fire.

The film also features Milla Jovovich as Stone's sexy, casually amoral wife, and "Six Feet Under" star Frances Conroy as Jack's devout, long-suffering spouse.

The official trailer for Overture Films’  “STONE” has just debuted online, exclusively on Apple Movie Trailers. The upcoming film stars Academy Award® winner Robert De Niro, Oscar® nominee Edward Norton and Milla Jovovich. De Niro plays a cop whose romantic entanglements with a convicted arsonist's (Norton) wife (Jovovich) becomes dangerous in the John Curran directed thriller.  Curran who previously worked with Norton on The Painted Veil directs from a script by playwright Angus MacLachlan (Junebug)."As parole officer Jack Mabry (De Niro) counts the days toward a quiet retirement, he is asked to review the case of Gerald “Stone” Creeson (Norton), in prison for covering up the murder of his grandparents with a fire. Now eligible for early release, Stone needs to convince Jack he has reformed, but his attempts to influence the older man’s decision have profound and unexpected effects on them both. Stone skillfully weaves together the parallel journeys of two men grappling with dark impulses, as the line between lawman and lawbreaker becomes precariously thin. The film’s superb ensemble features Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element) as Lucetta, Stone’s sexy, casually amoral wife, and Golden Globe® winner Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under) as Madylyn, Jack’s devout, long-suffering spouse.Set against the quiet desperation of economically ravaged suburban Detroit and the stifling brutality of a maximum security prison, this tale of passion, betrayal and corruption examines the fractured lives of two volatile men breaking from their troubled pasts to face uncertain futures.”From the looks of this trailer De Niro is playing another authoritative figure with a vulnerable side, while Norton gives off that familiar American History X vibe as a convict, this time sporting corn rows. Can't really say I'm feeling his Southern accent and though Jovovich is shaping up to be a really good actress, her character, who it appears to have been sent by Norton to seduce De Niro, seems just as loopy and twisted as those she played in He Got Game and The Perfect Getaway. Produced by Millennium Films/Nu Image the picture is set for an October 10th release.  Click on the first image below to check out the trailer.  Source: Apple Movies

Overture Films has released the first official trailer for the dramatic thriller Stone starring Edward Norton, Robert DeNiro and Milla Jovovich. In this trailer it's clear that Norton is continuing on his pattern of wholly unique and defined characters completely different than previous roles. It's a bit reminiscent of Sean Penn's turn in Dead Man Walking, but here, Norton has to contend with DeNiro who is still a mighty presence on screen. Jovovich spices it up a bit for a thriller that looks tense and even quite erotic. Director John Curran has shown a knack for isolated dramas like We Don't Live Here Anymore, so this should be very interesting. **Guapo here. See the update below.** Mark Ruffalo is one hell of an actor, and one of my personal favorites. However, it's completely random and out of left field to find out that "The Kids Are All Right" actor is almost a complete lock in to take on the role of Bruce Banner/Hulk in Marvel's "The Avengers".Yes, we all know about the drama that started up last week when Marvel announced they could care less if they had Norton back playing the role of the gamma ray-induced human. Since Ruffalo could be Banner, my goodness is that fine by me. Bring it on, that sounds like a really cool addition to the cast. I'm normally not down for changing at the last minute, but you want to talk about a nice substitute."The Avengers" is expected to be released in theaters sometime in 2012, giving the higher-ups at Marvel Studios plenty of time to wrangle together the rest of the superhero crew. That isn't the only Marvel property gracing the screen in the near future. Be sure to keep an eye out in theaters next year for the 3-D versions of "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger".If you want to see Ruffalo showing off those acting chops, check him out in Lisa Cholodenko's "The Kids Are All Right", currently out in limited theaters. **UPDATE** Variety is reporting that the Ruffalo talk is a bit premature: Following the news of Edward Norton's departure from "The Avengers,"  rumors have begun to fly as to whom will portray the Hulk in the upcoming superhero pic. First up: Mark Ruffalo. Nikki Finke is reporting that "The Kids Are All Right " thesp is in 'late talks' to play Bruce Banner (a.k.a. The Hulk) in Marvel's upcoming pic but that may be premature with no negotiations having yet taken place between Ruffalo and Marvel, sources close to the actor say. Doctor WTF? In one of the oddest casting rumors to come across the Internet in recent memory, the Los Angeles Times (by way of Digital Spy) is reporting that former Doctor Who actor David Tennant is in contention to play Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk in the upcoming Joss Whedon-directed The Avengers, which is slated for a May 2012 release. Earlier this week, Marvel Studios announced that Edward Norton, who played the role of the big green rage addict in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, would not be reprising the role. Mark Ruffalo is in “late-stage talks” to replace Edward Norton as The Incredible Hulk, Deadline.com reported Wednesday. This time, at least, [...]
After the debacle that took Edward Norton away from his role as Hulk for the superhero ensemble The Avengers, aside from the back and forth between Marvel, Norton's agent, and finally Norton himself, there were rumors swirling about potential replacements. Hero Complex mentions names like Joaquin Phoenix, Adrien Brody, David Tennant and Joss Whedon favorite Nathan Fillion, but Deadline has a report out of left field that pegs Mark Ruffalo as being in "late-stage discussions" between Marvel and his agency to become the new Incredible Hulk. As crappy as Norton's situation was, Ruffalo is one hell of an amazing replacement. Just yesterday I was in the middle of a discussion about Norton's potential replacement, and Mark Ruffalo was at the top of my list. He's a great actor that a lot of people probably know by his looks the most, but not necessarily his name. Not only is he currently getting ...

Briefly: OK, this is news I can really get behind. If you've got to replace Edward Norton in a role, you can just get anyone off the street. But it looks like Marvel has sights set high, and not on Joaquin Phoenix. Deadline reports is that Mark Ruffalo is in 'late stage talks' to be the new Bruce Banner and Incredible Hulk in The Avengers. That's all the info we've got right now, but I love the idea. I've enjoyed Ruffalo's work for a long time, and while his basic mode is pretty much the polar opposite of The Avengers, I think he could be great fun. Think of his performance in The Brothers Bloom modulated by his serious but pulpy work in Shutter Island. Yeah, this may do nicely. More details as they come in. UPDATE: THR says that the deal-making process for Ruffalo isn't as far along as Deadline made ...
