AP - One enters a movie like "Our Family Wedding" bracing for cheesiness.
The number of photo tweets coming out of the Oscars turned out to be relatively disappointing this year. Luckily, Omar Doom did me a solid today and shared a shared shot of the "Inglourious Basterds" crew with their deserving Best Supporting Actor winner Christoph Waltz.

She & Him is the musical collaboration of M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel, previously responsible for the Why Do You Let Me Stay Here? tune that we featured last year. That one had a bank job video directed by 500 Days of Summer's Marc Webb while for this new song, In the Sun, the man with the megaphone is Down With Love and The Break-Up's Peyton Reed. He's comfortably one of my favourite comedy directors of recent years and previously directed Deschanel in Yes Man.
You can see the clip after the break.
If you've seen Reed's first feature Bring It On, you'll spot some similarities here, in the nifty choreography, smart styling and high school setting. It's an infectious and fun video, though hardly earth shattering and those with a low tolerance for Deschanel's MPDG schtick might not make it all of the way through.
MTV has confirmed a Latino Review scoop that Avatar star Stephen Lang will play the villain Khalar Singh in director Marcus Nispel's Conan .
Last night I saw an awesome TV spot for Repo Men that only contained quick cuts of these guys collecting things and no music. You can watch that here and I was planning on posting it until this "Director's Cut" trailer popped up on the official website. Universal just debuted this new red band trailer for Repo Men that was cut by the director. Usually studios hire their own marketing teams to make trailers, but some directors cut their own because they feel they better represent the movie. I don't think this trailer was as good as that TV spot I mentioned, but damn does this look good. Can't wait to see this! Check out the new trailer below.

We have the intersection between famous people and crazy people to thank for no small amount of entertainment. Take the lawsuit filed by Dannez Hunter, who claims that in 1999 he submitted a story treatment to Miramax about a character named Ren. Hunter claims that Ren became O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill, and that Quentin Tarantino stole elements of his treatment, including the specific manner of murder of Ren's mother.
But it gets better, because Hunter also applied for a job at Miramax, and was, ahem, "never given a return phone call, as numerous similar situated less qualified Jewish and White people were bestowed job after job after job." He wants a bag full of money, in part because whites and jews got all the royalties from Kill Bill. Good luck with this one, buddy. [TMZ]
After the break something slightly more substantive but less amusing: Tarantino reportedly may make a Harvey ...

Newsarama.com - Matt Fraction is in a unique position with Marvel right now, and particularly with the character of Iron Man. As Iron Man 2 flies toward its big-screen debut, Fraction anxiously awaits the movie, where he can see some of his work as a consultant translate onto screen. ComingSoon.net's The Weekend Warrior offers a preview of the new releases opening on Friday, March 12 including Paul Greengrass' Green Zone (Universal) starring Matt Damon, the R-rated comedy She's Out of My League (Paramount) with Jay Baruchel, the romantic drama Remember Me (Summit) with Robert Pattinson, and the ensemble comedy Our Family Wedding starring Forrest Whitaker and America Ferrara. This week's "The Chosen One" is Bong Joon-ho's murder mystery Mother (Magnolia Pictures), while "The Battle Cry" ponders the gigantic opening of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and wonders whether any big opening will surprise or impress anyone again.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I still haven't seen the Academy Award-winning documentary The Cove despite all the huge acclaim and buzz (I hope to finally see it later this week). Louie Psihoyos' film follows a group of activists, led by renown dolphin trainer Ric O?Barry, who use state-of-the-art equipment to infiltrate a cove near Taijii, Japan "to expose both a shocking instance of animal abuse and a serious threat to human health."
Apparently during the film, the crew get the idea to have a friend at ILM to build them spy cameras to capture the act of the crime. But it is during that segment where we get a small cameo from another big screen villain: Prince Vigo the Carpathian from Ghostbusters 2. You can see the screencapture from The Cove, along with a full photo of the Vigo the Carpathian painting after the jump. It haunts my dreams!

Last week our resident scoop master El Mayimbe broke the story about Stephen Lang being offered the role as the bad guy in the upcoming Conan reboot. MTV spoke with Lang and asked him about the rumor, which he confirmed. So it looks as if Conan will be going up against a man that not only hates blue colored people, but also barbarians who used to be on a Stargate team. MTV has more:"I have no idea how I'm going to do it," Lang laughed. "First I'm going to find out how I'm going to sound. I'm going to get back on a Mongolian pony and ride like the wind. I'm going to flash my scimitar. I'm going to cut the nuts off Conan and his father."Here's a description of the character he'll be playing:Khalar Singh is in his 40s to 50s, Asian or Middle Eastern, Central Asian, Mongol, Turkish, or Persian, open to all ethnicities; commanding in size and manner, a warlord and formidable warrior, brilliant, cruel, weathered and tanned by the many campaigns he has waged and won. He is driven in his quest to find the Queen of Acheron and has been building an empire to do so. So there you have it. El Mayimbe doesn't post rumors folks. What Mayimbe needs to find out next is, who in the heck is Khalar Singh? I read the Conan comics and I've never heard of the dude.

Vince Lombardi is arguably one of the three greatest coaches to have ever had the pleasure of yelling at football players. The man never had a losing season with the Green Bay Packers and finished his career with an impressive record of 105-35-6. He went 9-1 in Championship games and won two Super Bowls. Looks like Bobby D. has signed on to play the legendary coach for ESPN films. THR has more:
Robert De Niro has become attached to play legendary coach Vince Lombardi in a biopic being developed by ESPN Films, Andell Entertainment and the NFL. Titled simply ?Lombardi,? the project is being penned by ?Forrest Gump? writer Eric Roth.
The film will focus on the years that Lombardi rebuilt the Green Bay Packers into gridiron NFL champions. The producers plan to release the film between the AFC and NFC conference championship games and the Super Bowl in 2012.
Robert DeNiro on the football field? SOLD!
"You flaggin' me? Are you flaggin' me? Who the *&#$ are you to think you can flag me you son of a (&#$^@#$ mother **#($&!! And up yours too!"

One of the films I regret missing at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival is a campire rock musical titled Suck. Rob Stefaniuk's Canadian independent rock comedy tells the story of "a rock 'n' roll band that will do anything to become famous." In a post-Twilight age, it is easy to write off any young vampire movie as just another one of those tween flicks, but this looks different. And early reviews coming out of the festival were very positive. Watch the trailer now, embedded after the jump. And as always, please leave your thoughts in the comments below.
Here is some more information from TIFF's official guide:
Joey (Rob Stefaniuk) is the ostensible leader of the Winners, a bar band going exactly nowhere. They're broke and feuding with one another, and the crappy gigs they've managed to cobble together and call a tour are being cancelled. Even their lame manager Jeff ...
Fox News, the fair and balanced network that never lies (actually, they all lie) is reporting that the role of Captain America is pretty much locked up with Krasinski as the front runner. More from Fox:
"John has read 4 times and is doing screen tests," our source tells us. "He has screen tested 2 times so far. It's very likely that he will be the new Captain America. He is a favorite among the key decision makers and has been asked to come back for more this week."
At this point, Krasinski is the main focus at Marvel.
"The big bosses are having him read with multiple actresses up for the female leads. They want to lock down the role and then they will narrow down everyone else."
Click HERE to read the rest.
I have nothing against Krasinki, I just don't think he'd be a good Captain America. Honestly, what have we seen from this guy that's even close to being action oriented? He certainly doesn't look like Cap. He has the height, and with the right training (*cough* roids *cough*) he'll get big enough for the part. But is Jim Halpert the right guy to lead The Avengers?
I know people were saying Robert Downey Jr. was not the right choice for Iron Man and look how that turned out, but I wasn't one of those guys. I always thought Downey was a fine choice. Krasinski just gives me doubts. But hey, if he can pull it off then more power to him.

AP - Lindsay Lohan is feuding with the E-Trade babies.
Update: This story features a correction -- Liev Schreiber has not yet read the screenplay.
Last week it was reported that screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) has turned in a screenplay for Wolverine 2, and that a January 2011 start date decided for the comic book sequel. io9 reports that during that press conference for Repo Men, actor Liev Schreiber said he had dinner with Hugh Jackman last night, who has read the first draft of the sequel script. Schreiber, who played Sabertooth in the original film, says it is "still not clear whether or not Victor will be present in the Japan storyline." Is Schreiber just playing coy or was he sent the script because Fox is considering adding his character to the next installment?
"In the Japan storyline as I remember it from the Wolverine comics, Victor wasn't there. So I don't know, of course I've got my ...
I swear... watching anything from "Hot Tub Time Machine" makes me feel like I've stepped back into a 1980s John Cusack comedy. That's probably because it's essentially what this movie is. Four friends are thrown back to a simpler time thanks to the titular relaxation tool, and hilarity ensues. Just watch this exclusive new TV [...]
In the newly released trailer for December's "Tron: Legacy," the long-awaited sequel to the 1982 cult classic, it's at first a bit jarring to see Jeff Bridges in such a fast-paced, futuristic setting. Bridges has, after all, spent the past few months on the awards circuit inhabiting the laid-back cowboy attitude of "Crazy Heart's" Bad Blake. But once you get past that, you get the sense that the movie is a fanboy's dream, with a world that will look pretty fantastic in 3-D, what with hi-tech Recognizer vehicles, neon game-warrior suits and, of course, the beloved Bridges. In the trailer,...
Robert De Niro has signed to play legendary football coach Vince Lombardi in ESPN Films' big screen feature Lombardi. Academy Award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, Munich, Benjamin Button, The Insider) penned the script. The National Football League is involved in the project, which means we probably won' see anything controversial in the movie (steroids, alcohol).
I don't know a lot about football, but looking at photos of Lombardi, you can certainly see how De Niro would be cast in the role. Risky Business says the plan is to release the film between the AFC and NFC conference championship games and the Super Bowl in 2012. The film will focus on Lombardi's Green Bay Packers years, although ESPN acquired the entire life rights to Lombardi?s story from his estate, as well as the rights to Jerry Kramer and Dick Schaap's book Instant Replay.
For those of you who don't know about Vince Lombardi, ...
It can't really be said that "Role Models," the David Wain-written (with Ken Marino and Paul Rudd) and -directed 2008 comedy didn't get enough love. It more than doubled its budget at the box office, which is perfectly great. Still, as much as people enjoyed it, "Role Models" hasn't really been on the path to [...]

Newsarama.com - Some of the changes to comic book publishing are obvious since Hollywood started salivating over their wares. But a lot of changes influenced by the film industry have happened without most loyal comic book fans even realizing it.
The biggest and most apparent shifts within the world of publishing have happened just in the last year. DC Comics is now calling itself "DC Entertainment," reporting directly to Warner Bros. Pictures Group. Marvel now runs its own movie studio under the umbrella of Disney's entertainment conglomerate. ...
Who cares about Tron? Trust me, after seeing the trailer you will. Even the most skeptical moviegoers that I know began to warm towards this film after seeing the first real images from it. For the past ten days I've been telling everyone I know how incredible the first trailer for Tron Legacy is. As part of the Flynn Lives.com viral campaign I attended an IMAX event on Saturday February 27 here in New York City. The problem is this event was just a screening of the trailer and many attendees, some who traveled from as far as Toronto, where unaware of this until they showed up. Not as well planned a promotion as ?Avatar Day? last summer, but it was still a fun time at the movies, all two minutes and nineteen seconds of it. At last year's San Diego Comic-Con Disney screened a sliver of a scene as well as the VFX concept trailer as that got the film greenlit by the studio, but this official trailer features the first bit of real scenes from the picture.Tron Legacy not only looks to be an exciting time at the cinema but an ambitious sequel that hopes to live up to and maybe surpass the magic of the original. Director Joseph Kosinski steps into Tron creator Steven Lisberger's shoes who also returns as the film's co-writer and producer and more importantly star Jeff Bridges returns not only as aged computer genius Kevin Flynn, but the film's chief villain Clu. Through the use of CGI, Bridges appears thirty years younger as the renegade program. Garrett Hedlund also stars as Flynn's 27-year-old son Sam who enters the cyber world and with a little help from program Quorra (Olvia Wilde) attempts to rescue his father who has been missing for twenty years.Until now, the trailer was only available to audiences who attended 3-D showings of the recent release Alice In Wonderland, but you can also watch it here, If you're like me and in the mood for a high-def version you can download to watch on your computer or home theater/PS3 set-up, this link will allow you to download the trailer in 1080p. Or just be lazy and click below:
This is the top of the Encom building. It's actually the rear of the office tower, but you can see the Encom logo from behind. Look closer and there's a tiny lone figure on the roof that appears to be Sam Flynn. Is he pondering while enjoying the night air, or perhaps a reckless daredevil preparing for a bungee jump? There's a misconception that Flynn's old friend Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner) is the CEO of Encom International. He assumed that title after Flynn disappeared but forced to step down. Later he returned as ?Executive Consultant? and is seen here telling Sam about a mysterious page he received from his dad's arcade. What's interesting here in this reverse shot is that Sam appears to be living in a storage facility/garage near the waterfront. Did Dad leave him a trust fund or is he struggling to make ends meet? The fact that Sam is a pretty skilled motorcycle rider will no doubt come into play on the game grid. You've all seen the exterior shot of Flynn's arcade, where a fading Tron billboard can be spotted on the roof slightly covering an ad for Space Paranoids. But check out the arcade's interior. The production design team did a hell of a job recreating another location from 1982.Unlike the secret entrance at the Flynn's arcade at Comic-Con, the Tron game isn't attached to a moveable fake brick wall. It's actually hinged to the wall and covers a pre-existing metal door. On the right there's another Tron game created by Flynn called ?Disc Wars? foreshadowing one of the new games Sam will participate in on the grid.Years, months, days, hours, minutes, seconds, milli-seconds. If I'm reading this clock correcting, it's been running for over two decades which is just how long Flynn has been gone. This virtual console looks a little familiar. The design resembles that which Ed Dillinger had in his office in the original Tron. One of the many technologies at Encom that Kevin Flynn may have appropriated for his personal use, including a certain molecular laser...Enjoy your trip, young man...The first shot from the cyber world is a striking image of the latest generation Recognizer, a vehicle used to police the system. Notice the three guards assembling for its landing. Perhaps they are waiting for their boss Clu to arrive? There's also a peculiar lightning strike in the background which suggests the advanced evolution of this world.Sam and several others programs rise inside a rotating structure. The faint roar of a crowd on the soundtrack suggests they are being transported to the game grid. Each passenger is in their own chamber that looks to connect with several platforms at the top.A second generation light cycle races towards an ominous structure in the distance. Kinda reminds me of the power plant in Cameron's Aliens. That's actually Sam inside the lightcycle, designed by his father in 1989 and said to be ?still the fastest thing on the grid.?Flynn's ?loyal confidant? Quorra lounging on an antique sofa in a very familiar room. Excuse me while I take a moment to wipe some drool off my keyboard.Sam's opponent readying his disc. Since Sam isn't wearing his helmet, this may be more of a threat play than the start of a tournament. Take note of the design of the gloves. Here he is, ?The Dude? looking like he did circa 1982. Well, maybe just a few years added. There's little facial movement to make an assessment of how well the visual f/x enhancement of Bridges' face will work, but so far its not bad. Kosinski has stated that Clu is and exact duplicate that Kevin Flynn created of himself in 1988. He's also said that ?Bit? would be replaced by Jarvis (James Frain) who serves as a ?right hand information officer? to Clu. That's definitely him on the left. I'd know Frain's ears anywhere. Plus when he appeared on the season finale of TV's Californication, Frain's hair looked to be slowly growing back from the Tron shoot several weeks earlier. The room that Clu and his associates are entering appear to be Flynn's quarters, first glimpsed in the concept trailer. It's a room almost literally taken out of the final sequence in Kubrick's 2001. Whether he lives here against his will or by choice remains to be seen, but it appears great efforts have been made to keep him comfortable. There's a row of leather bound books on a wall shelf behind Clu and the furniture towards the window is the same that Quorra was lounging on earlier. Now sporting a helmet, Sam tries his hand at Disc Wars. This is not model/actress Beau Garrett, but Serinda Swan who recently appeared for the second time as sorceress Zatanna on TV's Smallville. Along with with Garrett, Elizabeth Mathis and Yaya DaCosta, Swan plays a temptress or 'Siren' who seems to take pleasure in working at Kaster's (Michael Sheen) nightclub and enjoys watching her boss rock out below.Kaster must be some sort of master of ceremonies in the game world, enthusiastically rocking on in these shots here. Sheen's a long way from Brian Clough here and if he's anything like Dr. Dealgood in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome we should be in for a treat.Flynn's Lightrunner has the ability to travel off the grid on its own power. The two passenger vehicle (which looks like a dune buggy meets the Batmobile) seems to be making a quick getaway off the track. This red warrior either means business or likes to show off. Here Sam begins to travel a long corridor towards a mysterious white light. Could he have just stepped off that rotating structure we saw earlier? The first shot of old Flynn, taken from the concept trailer probably isn't in the actual movie. I doubt even the line scaling quality of his image made it past development to the final film.Sam once again showcases his riding skills, this time on the lightcycle track as he leaps ahead of his opponent and cuts him off with his jet wall. The de-rez effect mirrors that from the original film which was achieved with ripple glass and silk screen mesh.WHOA! I AM THE ONE! (Sorry, wrong franchise.)
Believe me when I tell you it looks even better in 3-D folks. This trailer is definitely a must see in that format. (But it wouldn't be wise to spend your money on Alice in Wonderland to do so.)

Those who enjoyed watching Jeff Bridges woo his way through the Oscars or Christoph Waltz waterboard another metaphor during his acceptance speech will see a lot more of both actors in the coming months -- they each have big movies coming out in December ("Green Hornet" for Waltz and "True Grit" and "Tron Legacy" for Bridges). For the rest the Oscar class of 2010, we may have to wait awhile. Sandra Bullock is taking her time deciding on a new project -- she's contemplating a legal comedy called "Bobbie Sue" that once had Cameron Diaz involved, but she has made...
A couple weeks ago a short list was leaked, containing the actors that Joe Johnston was considering for Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, in The First Avenger: Captain America. The list included John Krasinski (The Office), Scott Porter (Speed Racer, Friday Night Lights, Caprica), Mike Vogel (She's Out of My League, Cloverfield) Michael Cassidy (Smallville) and Patrick Flueger (Brothers, The 4400), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl) and Garret Hedlund (Tron Legacy), most of which had agreed to do a screen test for Marvel.
Last week Smallville/The O.C./Privileged star Michael Cassidy confirmed that he is out of the running for the role. And yesterday, Jonas Brothers and Dane Cook were rumored/revealed to have auditioned for roles in the film. And now Fox 411 is reporting that Office star John Krasinski is Marvel's top choice for the part, after reading four times for producers and recording two costumed screen tests.

We have heard rumors about a third installment of "Men In Black", but nothing solid has come of it yet. Bloody-Disgusting has received some unconfirmed information from industry insiders saying that Columbia Pictures is officially having conversations about a third film. Thats not even the interesting part...apparently they are looking at Josh Brolin to star, and Sacha Baron Cohen or Jemaine Clement to play a character named "Yaz". Keep in mind these are all three unconfirmed however they are pretty solid on their sources and I have to say the possibility of a new "Men In Black" starring Josh Brolin and Jemaine Clement makes me excited as hell. There already seems to be a screenplay written by Etan Cohen, who also wrote "Tropic Thunder" and "Idiocracy". Shoot was rumored to start this spring but without confirmed actors I doubt we will see that in the next few weeks. What do you think about the possibility of a third "Men In Black" with these guys starring in it? Could they carry the film the same way that Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith did twice previously?Source: Bloody-Disgusting
The "Tron Legacy" trailer arrived on the Internet late last night after appearing in theaters in front of Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" for a week. The biggest challenge in being a journalist is always remaining objective, keeping oneself out of the story, and providing an unbiased presentation of the truth. Sacha Baron Cohen and Jemaine Clement are competing for a role in Men in Black 3.
This according to Bloody Disgusting. While they don't know who the character is, the do have a name and that name is Yaz. To me, it sounds like an alien and not an agent, partly because it's a full name and not a letter, partly because Cohen and Clement just scream extra-terrestrial to me. Previous rumors had Josh Brolin joining the cast, and a plot that would see Agent J time travelling and meeting a younger non-Tommy Lee Jones version of Agent K.
Forced to pick one of these new contenders, I'd go for Clement. Not only would I love to see him in something big and high profile like this, I'd also like to see Cohen off working on his own, more pointed, projects.
Back in December we got word that David Cronenberg would in fact shoot The Talking Cure, an adaptation of the Christopher Hampton play about Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung that was floated as a possible Cronenberg project back in 2007. At the time, he seemed to have a fantastic cast lined up: Christoph Waltz as Freud, Michael Fassbender as Jung, and Keira Knightley as Sabina Spielrein, the patient with whom both men have a relationship of sorts.
Now, sadly, Waltz has dropped out. But Cronenberg's recent go-to actor, Viggo Mortensen, has stepped in to replace him.
Deadline Hollywood reports on the deal, saying that Waltz had to drop out in order to do Water for Elephants, the Depression-era circus romance being directed by Francis Lawrence. (In which Waltz replaced Sean Penn.) The Talking Cure is scheduled to begin a ten-week shoot in mid-May, which will overlap with Water for Elephants.
